It takes a small army of dedicated DI volunteers to ensure Global Finals goes off without a hitch. These folks come from all corners of the DI community in order to lend their expertise and input to the world’s largest celebration of creativity and innovation.
If you are 18 years of age or older and will be a credentialed Global Finals attendee, we invite you to volunteer for a few hours to get a unique perspective on some of our main events.

This means that, at minimum, all staff and volunteers will have completed their primary series of Covid-19 vaccines. It also means that those eligible to receive boosters will be required to do so. Details on how to submit your proof of vaccination will be available at the time you are assigned a role. Masks will be required at all times inside tournament venues.

Volunteers are responsible for their own travel arrangements. Volunteers are also responsible for procuring the time off to participate as a volunteer. Most volunteers will be required to be in Kansas City, MO starting Friday, May 20, 2022 and should plan on departing on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. In total, volunteers plan to spend 6 days (4 event days and 2 travel days) in order to fulfill their volunteer role.
As always, all individuals who wish to volunteer at Global Finals will need to be nominated by their Affiliate Directors. Each Affiliate has different requirements for nominating volunteers. You should contact your Affiliate Director as soon as possible to let them know you are interested in volunteering and to find out what their requirements are.
Starting in February, nominees are reviewed and then formally invited to register for Global Finals. During the registration process, individuals select their preferences regarding their volunteer role. While we try to fill all roles based on these preferences, it is impossible to ensure that everyone gets the assignment they wanted. We appreciate your flexibility and your willingness to give your time no matter what you end up doing. Furthermore, as nominees decline their invitations we will continue to invite other nominees until all volunteer positions are filled. Do not get discouraged if you do not get an invitation right away. You may still get one after the initial round of invitations goes out.
All volunteers are expected to have a roommate, but also have the option to buy a single room for a fee of $500. Hotel accommodations will only be provided starting on the required arrival date for each volunteer and ending on Wednesday, May 25. Arrangements for additional nights must be made separately by volunteers. More details on this process will be provided directly to attending volunteers.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided to all volunteers and officials for any full day they are in attendance. Only dinner will be provided to volunteers and officials on their day of arrival. No meals will be provided on the day of their departure.
