It’s Time to Pack for Globals!
Every journey—and especially a Global Finals journey—begins with a solid packing list. When you get to Kansas City, we want you to be focused on your team’s performance and have an incredible, fun-filled week. We don’t want you to be stressed out over something important you left at home.
So, we’ve put together a travel template to help get you started on your packing list. And if you’re like us, it’s not just about essentials like clothes and a toothbrush, it’s also about our must-haves, like battery packs, vegan snacks, and maybe a heating pad—little extras that help us have a great day (and night).
Here are a few of our staff’s must-haves. What will you put on your list?
- “Breakfast bars in case I’m in a rush and my comfiest pajamas so I can sleep like a log at the end of the day!” – Don Aufiero, Director of Software Engineering
- “A phone charger/battery pack because I probably won’t stop movin’. Also, Bluetooth headphones for any necessary moments of zen.” – Adam Law, Director of Affiliate Relations
- “Crossbody bag with a woven strap. Perfect for holding essentials. A woven/fabric strap can hold pins for the quick and essential pin trade!” – Paige Curtis, Director of Strategic Planning and Special Events
- “Sea Bands – because not even motion sickness will keep me from going to Globals!” – Kelsey Celek, Affiliate Relations Program Coordinator
- “My DI Alumni red tie to show my pride in being a Destination Imagination alum. Also, a napkin for all the delicious KC BBQ I plan on eating!” – Andrew Whitmire, Director of Strategic Partnerships & Advancement
- “A big pail (or perhaps a wheelbarrow) to bring back lots of inspiration from Global Finals, and extra shirt buttons to replace the ones that pop off from the pride I feel seeing a successful tournament filled with amazing solutions.” – Johnny Wells, Director of Education
- “Comfy shoes so I can try and see as many props in prop storage as possible as well as my very cool fanny pack.” – Lauren Burns, Event Manager
- “My laptop/tablet so I can pull up rules and Challenges when I need them.” – Erica Begun-Veenstra, Educational Experiences Coordinator
