Letter from Our Executive Director & BOT
Dear Teams, Team Managers and Parents,
On behalf of Destination Imagination, Inc., I would like to thank you for your overwhelming support of our organization and hope that your teams have had a great DI Challenge Experience so far this season.
We appreciate your feedback regarding Global Finals and regret to hear that some of our teams are concerned about the new team pricing model. With this change, we expect that some returning teams will pay less overall, some more overall, and some about the same when comparing total expenses to years prior.
Our Global Finals event brings more than 17,000 people together. Because of its large scale, planning for this event takes nearly a year to complete. Our move to Kansas City, Missouri was not taken lightly, and our staff and Board of Trustees have been working aggressively on a one-of-a-kind creative experience in a new city. Though Global Finals pricing has been released in March in years past, we knew that this could be a major change for some teams, which is why we worked hard to release this information more than three months earlier. Unfortunately, this timing also meant reaching teams during their DI season.
Though a tiered pricing model will not be offered for the event, we are working closely with companies to offer discounted rates on everything from airfare to food to activities in Kansas City. We have also secured group rates with many area hotels. Detailed information will be released in the spring.
You may be interested to know that we are in the process of setting up a scholarship fund. This scholarship fund will be an opportunity for certified Global Finals 2019 teams to apply for funding, but will only be available for teams who cannot attend Global Finals due to financial hardship. This information will be released in late-February.
We are confident that everyone will have a stellar experience in Kansas City, exceeding any previous Global Finals. We sincerely appreciate all you do to support Destination Imagination, and we look forward to watching your teams’ journeys this season.
