Kansas City Young Audiences to Bring Workshops to Global Finals
Destination Imagination (DI) is excited to announce our partnership with Kansas City Young Audiences (KCYA), a non-profit organization that works to engage youth in the arts, to promote creativity, and to inspire success in education.
The goal of the partnership will be to use KCYA’s network of more than 150 teaching artists to provide STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) workshops at Destination Imagination’s signature event, Global Finals, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri from May 22-25.
“With thousands of youth participants coming from all over the United States, Canada and 15 other countries to take part in the world’s largest celebration of creativity, having a variety of high-quality STEAM workshop options will deepen the participant experience,” said Andrew Whitmire, Destination Imagination’s Director of Strategic Partnerships. “The KCYA workshop series will also directly relate to many of the event’s major educational outcomes, including collaboration, empowerment and individual growth.”
“We are excited to partner with Destination Imagination and eager to welcome their thousands of participants to Kansas City for Global Finals,” said Martin English, KCYA’s Executive Director. “We relish the opportunity for our talented KCYA teaching artists to share their artistry and creativity through interactive workshops. We hope this collaboration is the beginning of a long-term partnership that will engage children for years to come.”
With classes ranging from Hip-Hop Dance to Sword Fighting for the Stage to Musical Theater to Visual Arts and more, KCYA and their teaching artists will be providing a wide range of workshops that will suit many interests at all age levels.
