Notes for Global Finals Parents
Things you can do to help your team before Global Finals:
- Help order shirts and pins or whatever else is offered by your Affiliate.
- Help with fundraising.
- Help with team photos and publicity.
- Be the liaison between the team and the school.
- Arrange a public performance for the team.
- Help get boxes for packing props.
- Arrange for prop transportation.
- Make travel arrangements for the team.
- Fix dinner for your child’s Team Manager one evening.
- Thank your child’s Team Manager. Give him/her a grateful hug for helping your child achieve his/her best.
Things you can do to help your team at Global Finals:
- Review and be comfortable with the Rules of the Road regarding Interference.
- Help with the team so the Team Manager can attend the Team Managers’ Wednesday Afternoon Meeting.
- If the Team Manager is unable to get back to the dorm in time, be sure the team gets to the Opening Ceremony.
- Cheer for the team at its Instant Challenge “Ta-da.”
- Take the team members or siblings pin trading, swimming, to view other Team Challenge solutions, etc.
- Help keep track of the team members’ pin collections.
- Take the kids to meals.
- Be a go-for-this-or-that person.
- Take photos/videos of the team and put together a Memento Album after Global Finals.
- Help transport the team on its competition days.
- Wash Affiliate T-shirts when necessary.
- Ride the shuttle to become familiar with the route.
- See that team members get to bed on time.
- See that team members do their homework, if it has been assigned.
- Take the team to Souvenir Sales in the Convention Center.
- Let the team and the Team Manager work by themselves on the competition days.
- Chaperone the team to the Parties after the Closing Ceremony so that the Team Manager can visit the Team Manager’s Clubhouse area in each party.
- Enjoy a wonderful experience!
Things you may not do at Global Finals:
- Do not fix or change the props in any way.
- Do not help with makeup or costumes.
- Do not talk to any Appraiser about your team or its solution. That is the Team Manager’s job.
Please remember to let the team take care of its Challenge solution.
