Push yourself to the edge of your creative powers and find out what you can really do under pressure! This year we offer THREE different eXtreme Challenges, each requiring different amounts of prep and time.

College AND Secondary Level Participation

DI® takes it to the EXTREME this year with challenges that are bigger and badder than ever! If you are a college or high school student, boy do we have some eXtreme Challenges in store for you! Amp up those creative juices and live on the edge at this year’s Global Finals. DI eXtreme will take you where no challenge has ever taken you before!

This year we tempt you with FOUR challenges that will put your creativity, stamina, and even your sanity to the ultimate test. And the best part of all, these challenges are open to ALL individuals or teams. Huh? YES! Even if you are also registered for a Challenge in the DI "Flagship" Tournament at Global Finals, YOU can take your Global Finals experience to the eXtreme!

Each of the 2008 eXtreme Challenges require different amounts of prep and time:

For those who can't deny their creative cravings and can be satisfied with nothing less than an all out feeding frenzy, tempt your fate (and your sanity) with ALL FOUR DI eXtreme Challenges. Are you brave (or berserk?) enough to take on this deluge of DI hysteria? This is the ultimate creative thrill ride! It's do or DI time...eXtreme style!

SUPERMAX Challenge
Wednesday evening, May 23-Thursday May 24

For eXtreme purists…this one puts your creativity, and your stamina, to the ultimate test! Show up after opening ceremonies to get your Challenge, work all through the night, and present your solution the next day.

eX-TENDO Head-to-Head Challenge (1 of 2)
Friday, May 25 daytime

Back by Popular Demand! You begged for more so we’re giving it to you! The grueling head-to-head Challenge is back! Get this hair pulling, nail biting Challenge four weeks before Global Finals and be ready to reign supreme first thing Friday morning.

eX-TENDO Head-to-Head Challenge (2 of 2)
Friday, May 25 nighttime

This challenge is so over the top, we don’t dare schedule it for daytime. You will battle for eXtreme technical supremacy in this gritty head-to-head challenge. Get the challenge four weeks before Global Finals and be ready to get down and dirty by Friday night.

MAX Challenge
Saturday, May 26

Get in, get eXtreme, and get on with your life. This eXpress lane challenge makes it easy to get into the eXtreme of it all. Show up Saturday morning with required supplies, get the Challenge, come back 3 hours later and present your solution. Do it!

... Who can do eXtreme?

Sign up early; spaces are limited for all three days of competition.

All College Students and all High School Students (participants must have completed or be finishing 9th grade at the time of Global Finals - NO exceptions). Teams which include high school students under age 18 must also have an adult supervisor who is NOT a part of their team - NO exceptions.

... For What Challenges can I register?

Teams may register for one, two, three, or all four Challenges, with NO exceptions. That’s right, we said it! If you are registered to compete in the DI Flagship Tournament you can ALSO do DI eXtreme. We will find a way to make the schedule work for you/your team.

... Do I have to register as part of a team?

You must register as a team, but if you do not have a team, we can help you link up with other individuals and form teams. Our University Level coordinator will serve as the clearinghouse to connect individuals. Contact Chris Groberg at university@dihq.org. Each team member must have an A-level housing package in order to participate in Global Finals.

... Does my team have to be participating in a Challenge in the Destination ImagiNation "flagship program" to go to Global Finals (to participate in DI eXtreme)?

No! Register and come on down to Tennessee for an eXtreme Global Finals experience! Each team member must have an A-level housing package in order to participate in Global Finals. But, you do NOT have to already be participating in the Flagship program. Yes, you read that right! Ain’t DI eXtreme so cool?

... When and how do I register for DI eXtreme?

Each team must register for each of the eXtreme Challenges in which they plan to participate on www.ShopDI.org by April 16, 2008. Once you have paid the entry fee, we will send you a Going to Globals binder, Team Registration Form (for housing packages) and a Team Practice Guide. All team members must have an A-level housing package in order to participate in Global Finals.
